Weekend lorry ban to be lifted at night on August 20 weekend

Hungary will lift a ban on lorries from its roads over the August 20 long weekend to ensure that shelves are well stocked, the Innovation and Technology Ministry said on Thursday.

Considering the August 20 national holiday, heavy commercial vehicles would be banned from Hungary's roads under normal circumstances from 8 a.m. on Friday to 10 p.m. on Sunday. However, the ban will be lifted from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. both on Friday and Saturday in order to ensure an uninterrupted supply of goods.

The ministry noted that the measure had been requested by retailers.
