Spar opens, renovates stores for HUF 1.9 bln

Supermarket chain Spar has invested more than HUF 1.9 billion to open new stores in Budapest and Sopron (210 km west of Budapest) and upgrade two others, Spar Hungary said, according to napi.hu.
Spar spent HUF 431 million on the new store in the capital's District IX, which opened in May, and HUF 406 mln on the new store in Sopron, which opened last week.
The company spent HUF 612 mln to renovate its unit in Mosonmagyaróvár (160 km northwest of Budapest) and HUF 472 mln to upgrade its store in Szentlőrinc (215 km southwest).
Spar Hungary's revenue rose 9% to HUF 739 bln last year.
It employs more than 14,000 people.
