Pharmacy turnover increasing

Pharma

After a weak start this year, pharmacies produced their largest turnover of the last 12 months with prescription spending of almost HUF 51 billion in March, according to the analysis of Hiflylabs Zrt., writes business daily Világgazdaság.

Sales of prescription drugs also increased by 16% compared to the previous month; however, the profitability of pharmacies remains stagnant. The distribution of subsidized prescription products is becoming less profitable for pharmacies every year.

Zsolt Virág, chairman of the board of Hiflylabs Zrt., said that while in January 2019, a pharmacy could retain 12% of its prescription turnover, in March this year, that proportion was only 11.3%.
