Production at a plant Airbus Helicopters is building in Gyula (194 km southeast of Budapest) will start in July 2022, but the output will be ramped up to full capacity only after 4-5 years, Airbus Helicopters Hungary managing director Andreas Stöckle told MTI on Friday.

The plant is under contract to start production on July 17, 2022, starting with 10 machines, Stöckle said.

Around 15 trained workers will be needed to operate the machinery at the start, but 25 engineers have already been recruited and are working at a leased office space in nearby Békéscsaba until the plant is completed, he added.

More machinery will arrive at the plant in September 2022 and again early in 2023, he said. When the plant reaches full capacity, in 4-5 years, headcount is expected to reach 200-250, he added.

Airbus Helicopters topped out the HUF 25 bln parts plant in Gyula in May.
