Venture capital, private equity transactions at HUF 19.8 bln in H1

Venture capital and private equity transactions in Hungary came to more than HUF 19.8 billion in the first half of this year, more than double its level a year earlier and close to the HUF 20.8 bln invested in the same period of 2019, state news wire MTI says, citing a report by the Hungarian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (HVCA).

There were a total of 61 transactions in the first half, including 29 incubation and seed investments, HVCA said.

First-round investments accounted for 73% of the total volume.

The average transaction size was HUF 328 million, up from HUF 151 mln.

Most of the investments were made in the business and industrial services and the consumer goods and retail sectors.

HVC said 78 exits took place during the period.
