MOL Group Parts With 39 Slovenian Refueling Stations

Deals

Hungary's MOL Group is selling 39 of its refueling stations in Slovenia to win European Commission approval for its acquisition of OMV Slovenija, MOL's Croatian unit INA told MTI.

MOL Group signed a contract to sell the 39 stations to Shell on March 9, INA said.

OMV announced in June 2021 that it agreed to sell its Slovenian unit to MOL for EUR 301 million. The deal includes 120 refueling stations under the OMV, Euro Truck, and Avanti/DISKONT brands. In June 2022, the EC said it opened an in-depth investigation to assess the planned acquisition.

INA said that MOL Group's acquisition of OMV Slovenija has entered "the final phase".

INA holds 7.75% in OMV Slovenija at present, but that stake is set to rise to 33% under a contract signed with MOL.

In a separate statement issued on Tuesday, MOL confirmed the details of the transaction.

MOL Group has close to 2,500 gas stations in 10 countries in the region.
