New car registrations climb 10%

New passenger car registrations rose 10% year-on-year to 42,714 in January-April, the Hungarian Vehicle Importers Association (MGE) said on Monday, citing figures compiled by Datahouse. 

Sales of light commercial vehicles increased 15% to 8,089 during the period. Sales of heavy commercial vehicles rose 54% to 1,553.

Alone in April, new passenger car registrations reached 10,521, jumping 70% from the same month a year earlier, when the country was in lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
