Automotive Industry Output Falls 1.7% in November

The output of the automotive industry, Hungary's most significant manufacturing sector, slipped 1.7% year-on-year in November, falling for the first time in more than a year, according to detailed data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday.

The segment accounted for 27% of manufacturing output during the month.

The data shows the output of the electrical equipment segment, which made up 11% of manufacturing production, dropped 12.2%. The output of the computer, electronics, and optical equipment segment, accounting for 10% of manufacturing, edged down by 0.8%.

The food, drinks, and tobacco segment, which comprised 13% of manufacturing sector output, dipped 7.7%.

KSH confirmed that headline industrial output fell 5.8% in November. Output dropped 5.6% when adjusted for the number of workdays. In a month-on-month comparison, output fell a seasonally- and workday-adjusted 2.3%.
