Access to Lake Balaton from many settlements in Hungary will improve this summer with new train and bus services, the State Secretary for Transport of the Ministry of Technology and Industry (TIM) Dávid Vitézy said on his Facebook page Sunday.

In his post, Vitézy emphasized that the summer season on the network of Volánbusz Zrt. will start on June 16. Following consultations at the National Transportation Center, TIM ordered the new timetable on Friday.

Describing the services, he wrote that a direct bus service from Salgótarján (110 km northeast of Budapest) to Siófok (125 km southwest) will start this summer as well, also covering the settlements along Road 21 from Thursday to Sunday.

With a transfer time of 15-20 minutes in Siófok, a favorable transfer is also provided for Balaton InterCity routes on the southern shore of Lake Balaton.
