More tourists than expected during Euro 2020

Although the number of tourists arriving in Budapest is still lower than before the pandemic, more people than expected chose the Hungarian capital during the European Football Championship, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

Most foreigners were in Hungary during the French-Portuguese group match.

Euro 2020 games were staged in Budapest from June 15-27, during which time about 57,000 guests spent 165,000 guest nights in accommodations in the capital.

Guests stayed in Budapest for an average of almost three nights, with 39% of all guest nights coming from domestic residents.
