Hungary eliminates data provision overlap in tourism sector

Tourism

A real-time data center launched by the Hungarian Tourism Agency early in 2020 will become the sole source of official data for statistics on commercial accommodations, the agency and the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Commercial accommodations will no longer be required to provide data to KSH, and KSH will use the data from the tourism agency's National Tourism Data Service Center (NTAK) to compile its statistics on the sector.

KSH head Gabriella Vukovich said taking over the data from NTAK would allow KSH to work faster and with a broader set of better quality data while reducing the data provision burden.

The elimination of the data provision overlap will also apply to tourism figures from local councils.

KSH will publish an analysis of the data it takes over from NTAK in August.
