Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest has won the category of "Hungary's Leading Hotel' at the 28th edition of the World Travel Awards, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.

The hotel is part of The Luxury Collection portfolio of Marriott International and has previously been selected among the best new hotels in the world on the international travel lists of The Times (United Kingdom), Condé Nast Traveler (Spain) and Robb Report (United States).

On October 22, one of the travel industry's most prestigious awards programs rewarded leaders in the tourism, airline, hotel, and hospitality sectors. Described as the "Oscars" of the travel and tourism industry by the Wall Street Journal, the awards ceremony has been held every year since 1993.

"It is a great honor for us, for the whole team of Matild Palace, to have earned this prestigious award and to be ranked among the world's best hotels by more and more international media. We believe this is just the beginning and we can draw further attention to this fantastic city that deserves recognition very much from the international press," said Selim Ölmez, hotel manager of Matild Palace.

The 130-room hotel made its debut in the reborn iconic building of Budapest this summer together with the first European Spago restaurant and the secret rooftop bar, The Duchess, both under the gastronomic leadership of world-famous chef Wolfgang Puck. The historic Matild Café & Cabaret is expected to open in spring 2022 in Matild Palace as well.
