Varga discusses economic ties with U.S. ambassador
Hungarian economy minister Mihály Varga discussed ways to expand bilateral economic relations with United States Ambassador to Hungary Colleen Bell at an official meeting at Vargaʼs office on Friday, the ministry said in a statement, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
Both Varga and Bell agreed that building on a relationship based on reciprocity and trust is highly important, according to a ministry statement. Varga noted that the United States is Hungaryʼs largest export market and the second largest source of imports outside of Europe. Bilateral trade rose by 10.5% to almost $6 bln last year. He also underlined that 40 of the 50 biggest U.S. multinationals have operations in Hungary.
