Report: Bunge notified tax authority of VAT fraud cases over two years ago
American food company Bunge had informed the Hungarian Tax Authority (NAV) in detail about massive VAT fraud cases more than two years ago, hvg.hu revealed yesterday.
The nearly 30-page document obtained by the online news portal includes many details of the alleged fraud cases, such as company names, invoices, delivery notes and entire operational schemes of VAT fraud.
The revelation comes only weeks after NAV, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and even Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, stated that allegations emerging after the U.S. banned six Hungarians from entering the U.S., were not based on proven facts. NAV declined to comment, while Bunge did not deny the existence of the report.
