Orbán vows to strengthen economic sovereignty

“Hungary's political sovereignty needs to be protected and its economic sovereignty further expanded in a geopolitically sensitive situation in Europe where the economy is stagnating”, Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said late yesterday.

According to press chief Bertalan Havasi, the government laid down the constitutional and economic foundations of a policy for national sovereignty.

According to the prime minister, the focus of foreign trade should be partly shifted to the emerging eastern markets.

Orbán said public utility fee cuts, the energy policy and the job protection scheme, are some of things most threatened by the harmonization of European taxes.

The prime minister called for further progress in diversifying energy transport routes and launching an unprecedented economic development scheme, which would bring about full employment and simultaneously strengthen economic players.
