Orbán to hold consultations ahead of IMF talks
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is starting a series of consultations with political and economic allies of the ruling Fidesz party and the government, as well as church leaders, daily Népszabadság said on Tuesday.
Between July 16 and 31, Orbán will hold talks with political partner organizations with whom he signed alliance contracts in March 2010, before the parliamentary elections, the paper said.
The talks precede negotiations on precautionary financial assistance Hungary is seeking from the International Monetary Fund and the European Union.
Next Monday, Orbán will hold consultations with Zsolt Semjén, head of his "number one" ally KDNP, with party group leader Péter Harrach and other senior party officials.
Orbán is also scheduled to hold talks with Sándor Demján, head of the Federation of Hungarian Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ), and László Parragh, head of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Orbán will not prepare "Moncloa Pacts," -- a series of negotiations in Spain back in 1977 before introducing an austerity package -- but assess the past two years and identify the most important tasks for the second half of the government term, a government official who wished to remain unnamed told the paper.
Negotiating delegations from the IMF and the EU will arrive in Budapest on July 17.
