Official: No big changes to handling of EU funds
Hungary's Directorate General for Audit of European Funds has recommended changes to internal regulations as well as efforts to maintain a headcount in a review of the country's revamped system for managing European Union funding, a government official told Hungarian business daily Napi Gazdaság today.
Nándor Csepreghy, deputy state secretary for development policy, told the paper that the recommendations posed no obstacle to the work of the 2,100 people employed to manage the EU funding, from the point of view of both quantity and quality. The recommendations concerning the internal regulations are meant to clarify procedure and sphere of influence, he added, calling the necessary changes "a matter of technical details".
The independent directorate, known by its Hungarian acronym EUTAF, earlier reviewed changes to the way EU funding is managed and controlled in the scope of a thematic audit, according to a methodology agreed upon with the European Commission.
