Official: Development Ministry to focus on state ownership

History

The National Development Ministry is working on a unified model for the operation of state-owned companies, and will actively work to keep important assets under state ownership, state secretary for asset management Sára Nemes Hegman said at a seminar organized yesterday.

In the future, the public tasks of such companies must be determined on the level of organisational structure, Hegman said, adding that distinctions also had to be made between non-profit and for-profit activities.

Important national assets and companies that provide public services must be kept under the government's direction, making the state a force to be reckoned with in the area of utilities providers to households and to companies, she said.

An organizational structure and system of financing must be established that makes recent government-mandated utility price cuts sustainable and that allows companies to enjoy such reductions as well, she added.
