Ministry suspends public company contracting
All contracting, which is not necessary for everyday operations, is suspended for state-owned companies for the summer in order to lay the grounds for complete audit by the National Development Ministry, the ministry announced in a statement late yesterday.
Hungarian news portal index.hu early yesterday reported that Development Minister Miklós Seszták had sent out a memo to all the ministry supervised companies to stop all contracting.
According to the statement of the ministry, the ban is expected to stay in effect through July and August. Contracts that are essential for daily operations can still be signed, though only with the approval of the minister and the secretary in charge, the statement added.
The statement justified the ministry’s decision by reporting that the current suspension is in place to prevent public companies from taking obligations that could prove to be either difficult or expensive to control.
