MEKH reassures on national natural gas supply
In an apparent attempt to mollify concerns regarding the country’s natural gas supply, the Hungarian Energy Regulatory Office (MEKH) released a statement yesterday which promised that, under average weather conditions, imports from Western nations can meet Hungarian demand during spring and summer months.
MEKH further pledged that the office “is continuously assessing the situation on the Hungarian market to secure safe gas supply and prepares forecasts for an unexpected disturbance of deliveries from Ukraine or due to extreme weather.”
Statistics from MEKH show that currently some 615 million cubic meters are held in national strategic storage and 740 million more are held by commercial interests.
