EC approves first Hungarian operative program
The European Commission approved the first Hungarian operative program on Thursday regarding the support of people in poverty.
The EU's Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD) will provide material assistance worth €93.8 mln to the most deprived in Hungary in the 2014-20 EU budget period. The assistance includes food, clothing and other essential items for personal use, e.g. shoes, soap and shampoo to very low income people, with the homeless and poor children being among them.
Hungarian own resources worth €16.6 mln will be added to the EU money. Hungary introduced eight operative programs to Brussels for the current budget period.
The framework partnership agreement was signed last September, and Hungary presented the individual programs in November.
The agreement provides for a €21.9 bln investment in Cohesion Policy funding over 2014-2020, less than the €25.3 bln earmarked for 2007-13, and Hungary will also receive €3.45 bln for rural development and €39 mln for fisheries and the maritime sector. Total funding with co-financing add up to €34.5 bln in the current seven-year period.
