After Bell, Obama to publicly release ambassador qualifications

“Thanks” in part to the naming of TV soap opera producer/large-scale Obama campaign contributor Colleen Bradley Bell to the position of US Ambassador to Hungary, the Obama administration will begin publicly posting qualifications of nominees to such positions.

The American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) made the announcement on Friday as the culmination of an eight-month struggle to have the documentation regularly released.

Earlier this year, Bell and hotel magnate/large-scale Obama campaign contributor George Tsunis, among a few nominees, caused the president some serious embarrassment by demonstrating a lack of awareness about the countries in which they would be posted in congressional hearings led by former presidential candidate Sen. John McCain.

Bell and Tsunis were nevertheless confirmed to the posts in Hungary and Norway, respectively, in February.
