Number of landlines edges down to 1,965,000 in September, authority says
The number of landline connections edged down to 1,965,000 in September from 1,979,000 in August, a fresh report by Hungary's National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) shows.
The number of voice over cable television connections rose to 567,000 from 557,000 in the previous month, while the number of voice over internet protocol connections rose to 415,000 from 407,000. The number of landlines per hundred people was 29.66 in September. The number of broadband DSL, cable and optical internet subscriptions in Hungary reached 2,142,000 in September, up 10,000 from the previous month. The number of DSL subscriptions, which use conventional fixed line technology, was 774,000 in September, down 4,000 from 778,000 in August. The number of cable subscriptions climbed 6,000 to 864,000, and the number of FTTH and FTTB subscriptions, which use optical technology, increased 7,000 to 306,000. Magyar Telekom controlled 34.8% of the market in September. UPC was runner-up with a 21.8% market share and DIGI was in third place with 13.5%.
