ELTE locked in list-making scandal
The ELTE university is currently investigating the practice of its student interest group HÖK, which apparently kept tabs on new applicants to the school. The group closely linked to the radical Jobbik party was apparently looking for new recruits, which is why they sought to find out the habits and political views of newcomers to determine whether they should be targeted. The list now made public on the Mandiner blog contains a multitude of derogatory remarks about new students targeting how they look to whether they have left-leaning views. HÖK president Ádám Garbai rejected the accusations saying the lists could have been accessible from the outside and demanded an apology from commercial broadcaster ATV, the first to run the story.
