Authority probes Liszt Ferenc Intl malfunction
Hungary's national air transport authority will investigate the circumstances of a technical malfunction that caused Liszt Ferenc International Airport Budapest to close on December 7, the National Development Ministry told MTI on Thursday. The airport was closed from a little before noon last Friday until early Saturday after the system that supplies electricity to the control tower was damaged. The air transport authority will start the investigation after it winds up oversight of the repair work, the ministry said. The investigation will be completed within 60 days of the time it is launched. HungaroControl, which handles air traffic control in Hungary, rents space at Liszt Ferenc International from the airport's operator, Budapest Airport. Budapest Airport also supplies HungaroControl with utilities, including primary electricity and a backup system for uninterrupted power supply.
