Szijjártó: EU, Russia should accelerate dialogue on South Stream
The construction of the South Stream gas pipeline is in the interest of both Hungary and Serbia, and the whole region, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said in Belgrade at a business forum on Thursday.
He urged the European Commission and Russia to renew talks on the project. Szijjártó said that the EC and Russia should “renew and accelerate the dialogue which has the aim [to ensure] that the South Stream gas pipeline be in harmony with the energy regulations of the European Union in every aspect.
We hear and understand the related concerns and criticism", he added, emphasizing, however, that "the construction of this pipeline will mean the diversification of gas line routes for the whole region".
