Bosnia Inflation Slows Marginally in March

The annual inflation rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina edged down to 2% in March from 2.1% in the previous month, data released by the Agency for Statistics of BiH (BHAS) showed on Thursday.

Price growth slowed of other goods & services (6.5% vs 8.1%), recreation & culture (4.3% vs 4.4%), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.8% vs 4.6%), and food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.2% vs 2.1%).

Also, deflation continued for clothing & footwear (-6.6% vs -6.4%). On the other hand, prices increased more for restaurants & hotels (8.4% vs 8%), furnishings & household equipment (3.6% vs 3.2%), and health (3.2% vs 2.7%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.3%, following a 0.5% gain in February. A separate report from the Sarajevo-based agency showed, that industrial production in Bosnia plunged by 9.4% year-on-year in March, reversing a 2.1% growth in February and marking the steepest fall since July 2020, mainly due to a drop of capital goods (- 15%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial activity contracted by 6.9%, following a 5.9% advance in February.
