Serbia Consumer Prices Ease Further in March

The annual inflation rate in Serbia fell to 5% in March from 5.6% in the previous month, data released by the Belgrade-based Central Statistical Office (RBS) showed on Friday, marking the lowest reading since August 2021.

Prices eased for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.9% vs 4.7% in February), clothing & footwear (6.4% vs 6.9%), health (8.1% vs 8.9%) and miscellaneous goods & services (3.6% vs 3.9%). Additionally, prices maintained the same pace of increase for transport (3%) and housing & utilities (7.6%).

On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices rose by 0.3%, following a 0.6% increase in February.

Serbia's annual inflation is expected to return to the targeted range of 1.5% to 4.5% already in May, a month earlier than previously expected, the central bank (NBS) said.
