Preparations to account for 10% of Paks upgrade costs
Planning and preparation for the upgrade of Hungaryʼs sole nuclear power plant in Paks is expected to account for about 10% of total project costs prior to the beginning of construction in 2018, Attila Aszódi, the government commissioner for the project, said in an interview on Friday with state-owned news channel M1.
Next yearʼs budget bill has allocated HUF 113 bln for the Paks upgrade and a similar amount is expected to be allocated in 2017, the commissioner said in the interview. He added that the Hungarian government cleared the construction of a bridge on the Danube near Kalocsa, central Hungary, to allow locals easier access to the Paks plant.
Cabinet chief János Lázár said last week that Hungary would begin drawing down a €10 bln credit line from Russia that will cover 80% of the cost of the upgrade.
