Officials inaugurate HUF 3.6 bln waste management facility

Local and central government officials inaugurated a HUF 3.6 bln automated waste processing facility in Hejőpapi in northeast Hungary yesterday. The facility will process 53,000 tons of recyclable waste a year. It will also turn out Refuse Derived Fuel products. 

Funding for the investment came from the European Union's Cohesion Fund. State secretary for priority public services Zsolt Szabó said waste management in Hungary could soon come under the auspices of the state, although the activity would remain local.
