NPL ratio reaches 19.3% of retail portfolio

MNB

The ratio of non-performing loans (NPL) among gross retail loans was 19.3% at the end of last year, down slightly from the end of September but deteriorating from 18.8% at the end of 2013, National Bank of Hungary (MNB) figures published on Monday show.

The ratio of restructured loans fell to 12.0% of all retail loans at the end of 2014.

The NPL ratio within restructured loans rose to 54.5% from 53.3% at the end of last September and from 50.4% one year earlier.

Gross retail loan stock fell in every quarter of 2014 and was down 0.6% in twelve months to HUF 6,373 bln at the end of 2014. The drop slowed considerably, however, from a 5.1% decline in 2013.

Net loans fell more, by 2.2% in 2014 to HUF 5,506 bln at the end of December, but far less than the 7.3% contraction in 2013.
