The Central Statistics Office (KSH) today released some figures showing a pretty decent showing by Hungary’s construction industry in February: To wit, KSH reports a 28.3% year-on-year increase in production for the month over February 2013.

KSH further reported an y.o.y. increase in both building construction (up 21.3%) and civil engineering (up 39.2%).

Citing favorable weather conditions as among the factors for the lucrative month, KSH noted a month-on-month increase of 28.3% for February, as well as a 22.5% y.o.y. upswing for the first two months of 2014.

For February 2014, the volume of new orders was 29.8% higher y.o.y., including a big 77.9% increase in civil engineering work in the month; KSH attributed this significant jump to “high-value contracts for road and bridge construction and railway development.”
