MÁV-Start, the passenger unit of Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) could purchase another 21 electric multiple units, co-funded with European Union money, the National Development Ministry and MÁV-Start said in a joint statement today.

The tender for the vehicles is expected to be called in Q1 2015, and the vehicles could start running between the end of next year and the beginning of 2017 on suburban lines around the capital.

MÁV-Start called a tender for 42+6 multiple units together with regional railway GYSEV two years ago. Switzerland's Stadler won the tender and recently delivered the first vehicles.
