Lázár: EC approved Paks fuel supply contract
The European Commission has approved Hungaryʼs contract with Russia regarding the delivery of fuel during the upgraded Hungary’s sole nuclear power plant Paks, cabinet chief János Lázár said yesterday, according to state news agency MTI.
The EC informed the government in an official letter that the Euratom Supply Agency had signed the contract between Hungary and Russia thereby removing all obstacles for maintaining the capacity of the Paks nuclear power plant, he added.
Lázár said Hungary is carrying on talks with the EC to resolve issues related to competition law and the implementation of European Union procurement rules with regard to the Paks project.
