KSH: Hungary’s farm gate prices down 5.1% in July

Farm gate prices in Hungary fell by 5.1% year-on-year in July, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported today. Crop products were down by 8.4%, while livestock and animal-product prices rose 0.4%. Grain prices were down 5.6% year-on-year in July. Maize price decreased by 10%.

Industrial crops declined 11.7% and potato prices dipped 25.5%.

Prices of fresh vegetables were up 1.2% compared to July of the previous year. Some seasonal products such as pepper, watermelon and sweet corn saw their prices decline between 3 and 5%, while tomato prices increased by 46%.

Fruit prices slid 19% year-on-year.

Live cattle prices fell 1.4% in July, compared to the previous month. 

Hog prices increased 3.1% year-on year, while poultry prices fell 5.6% year-on-year. Animal product prices were 4.5% higher year-on-year in July.

Egg prices and milk prices were up 0.5% and 5.5%, respectively.
