KSH: Guest nights up 3.8% y.o.y. in August

Accommodation providers in Hungary saw a 3.8% rise in overnight stays in August, year-on-year, the Central Statistics Office revealed today. 

The number of guest nights spent by foreign visitors was up 1.2% to 1.788 mln and the number spent by Hungarian guests increased by 6.1% to 2.081 mln.

The report also noted that gross revenues of accommodation providers increased by 9.9% year-on-year in August. During August, the occupancy rate at hotels was 68%, which is 1.5% more than a year earlier.

The number of tourists from Germany, Poland and Austria rose by 8.9%, 15%, and 12% respectively, while the decreases were seen in the number of nights spent by tourists from Italy (6.9%) and Russia (10%).

As of August 31, the number of accommodation providers operating in Hungary was 3,145, including 1,031 hotels with 59,000 rooms; 1,072 boarding houses with 12,000 rooms; and 1,042 campsites, community hostels, etc., categorized as “other”.
