KSH: Construction output up 12.4% in June

Construction

Time for another round of facts and figures from the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on the construction industry: Spearheading the lot is the 12.4% overall increase in volume of construction output year-on-year for June 2013, which in turn brought the half-year up to a 7.2% increase y.o.y. Growth in building structures and road/railway construction were seen as the prime movers for the month.

After what KSH labeled a “significant fall one year ago,” June 2013 saw an 18.2% y.o.y. jump in structure construction, while civil engineering projects increased 6.5% y.o.y. – though the latter actually fell 0.9% month-on-month.

Other findings showed that the volume of new orders had increased y.o.y. in civil engineering (23.9%), building construction (13.9%), and overall (19.5%). Order stock also improved for all three as well, with jumps of 16.7%, 0.9% and 11.7%, respectively.

Naturally, that’s not all that went up: Construction producer prices also rose for the second quarter of 2013 by some 1.8% overall y.o.y. and 0.6% quarter-on-quarter.

KSH’s report for the Hungarian construction industry’s first half of 2013 noted that for the second six months, 2082 new residential and 2321 non-residential buildings have received permits; these numbers represent declines of 26% and 12%, respectively, from the first six months.
