Hungary to get HUF 7,080 billion in EU funding in 2014-2020
Hungary will be the recipient of HUF 7,080 billion in European Union funding in the 2014-2020 budget period, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at the start of Parliament's spring session on Monday.
Orbán called a summit of EU leaders held in the previous week to discuss the 2013-2020 budget, a "success". "We achieved everything possible," he said. Funding for Hungary during the period comes to HUF 712,000 per capita, up from 660,000 in the 2007-2013 budget period, Orbán said. Hungary's net position in terms of EU funding is better for the 2014-2020 period than in 2007-2013, he added.
He said agreements reached at the summit in Brussels to scrap plans reducing the EU-funded proportion of projects from 85% to 75% as well as to allow the calculation of VAT as a project cost would generate HUF 210 billion in fiscal savings a year.
