Hungarian, Mongolian presidents discuss ties
Hungary could provide Mongolia with development assistance in the areas of water management and agriculture, Hungary’s President János Áder (pictured) said following his meeting with Mongolia’s President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj in Ulan Bator today.
The Hungarian President noted that Hungaryʼs cooperation with Mongolia in water management goes back to the 1950s and said one of the country’s animal vaccine plants built earlier by Hungarians was undergoing a renovation with Hungarian credit.
Elbegdorj talked about the potential for Mongolia to export safe food as a result of its cooperation with Hungary. He added that cooperation could also be extended to the areas of environmental protection and forestry. Cheap, but high quality Hungarian building materials could be competitive in Mongolia, and the country would welcome Hungarian companies in the wind and solar energy businesses, he said.
Both officials welcomed the planned re-opening of the Hungarian embassy in Mongolia in May.
