Govt tells drugmakers subsidy allocation could rise

The government has informed drugmakers that the allocation for drug subsidies in the 2013 budget bill could be raised to HUF 200-210 billion, daily Népszabadság said on Tuesday.

At present, the 2013 budget bill allocates HUF 158 billion for drug subsidies. The 2012 budget allocates HUF 219 billion for drug subsidies, but the latest data on general government spending by the National Economy Ministry show the expenditure target for drug subsidies is HUF 278 billion for the full year. At the end of October, spending on the subsidies reached HUF 262 billion, according to the ministry's data.
