Origo: Gov’t can lift Sunday closure for some

Competition

According to the recently approved law restricting retailers from opening on Sundays and during the night, the Hungarian government has the power to allow certain shops to be exempted from the mandatory closure, Hungarian online daily Origo reported today, adding that, the exact regulations on the exemptions will become public in the first quarter of 2015.

“The law enables the Hungarian government to modify the regulations considering the characteristics of settlement, however exceptions made this way cannot violate the aim and idea of the law” Hungary’s National Development Ministry said on Origo’s query.

According to Origo the law does not clearly explain how the exceptions will be granted.
