Gas from Ukraine arrives intact, reserves filling up

Energy Trade

The delivery of gas from Ukraine is proceeding according to contract, and Hungary's strategic gas reserves are being filled continuously, National Development Minister Miklós Seszták announced today.

Hungary’s strategic gas reserve operator the MMBF Földgáztároló will meet its legal obligation of storing 915 million cubic meters of strategic gas by June 30, Seszták added.

Currently Hungarian reserves store 2 billion cubic meters of gas, which amount is sufficient to satisfy the domestic demands of Hungary for several months, even if the heating season of winter is included.

MMBF Földgáztároló is owned by  Hungarian Development Bank (MFB) in 51% and Hungarian Hydrocarbon Stockpiling Association (MSZKSZ) 49% after MOL sold them its majority stake in a transaction closed in January 2014.
