Corvinus University, OTP Launch Joint Mentoring Program

Banking

On February 16, Corvinus University of Budapest and OTP Bank launched a joint mentoring program with nine mentor-mentee pairs. Thanks to the partnership, undergraduate students of second or third years or graduate students studying economics or finance can spend four months collecting first-hand experience about the everyday life of middle-level and senior managers in a bank, about multinational corporate culture and about business and banking operations.

Students of Corvinus can learn about company operations, business etiquette, report writing, they can attend meetings, specialist trainings and study negotiation techniques. They have the opportunity to ask questions, learn, collect experience and build their social capital. For OTP, the program is an excellent opportunity to reach new generations of professionals, identify the needs of young people starting their careers and create attractive working conditions for them. In addition, mentors can practice efficient cooperation with the younger generation, which may be useful with their own colleagues, too.

"The program fits nicely into our strategic goal to offer practice-oriented education to our students, and to help their professional development and facilitate their integration into the labor market by building personal relationships in a live company environment. The mentoring program will bring the academic and the corporate worlds closer together and will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the bond between our former and current students, too, as OTP currently employs hundreds of Corvinus alumni," said Réka Vas, vice-rector for Educational Affairs of Corvinus.

Gábor Galovics

Gábor Galovics, regional manager of the Budapest Region of OTP Bank added, "I am sure that the cooperation will be mutually beneficial for OTP Bank and the Corvinus University of Budapest, and a long-term professional relationship will be established between mentors and their mentees. Students participating in the mentoring programme will learn from outstanding banking leaders and experts, while receiving help from their mentor in professional and personal orientation and career planning."

"In addition, the students will get a direct insight into the daily operations and culture of a large company, and for our bank, the program can be an important channel of social engagement and finding new generations of professionals," he noted.

Over the past year, Corvinus Uni has entered into cooperation with a number of major international and Hungarian companies, including Ernst & Young, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Market Építő Zrt.
