Eurostat: One in three Hungarians at risk of poverty
In 2013, more than a third (33.5%) of the population was at risk of poverty or social exclusion in Hungary, a report by Eurostat revealed yesterday.
Only Bulgaria (48.0%), Romania (40.4%), Greece (35.7%) and Latvia (35.1%) have higher at-risk-of-poverty or exclusion rates. The proportion of individuals severely materially deprived in 2013 was 26.8%, much higher than the EU28 average (9.6%) and one of the highest in the EU behind Romania and Bulgaria.
