H1 Gas Consumption Dropped 18.2% y.o.y.

Gas consumption in Hungary dropped 18.2% year-on-year to around 4.7 billion cubic meters in the first half, the Ministry of Energy Affairs said in a release on its website yesterday.

Businesses accounted for close to two-thirds of the one billion cubic meter decline in consumption, and households for around one-third.

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows gas consumption by businesses fell 18.4% in the first half, while household gas consumption dropped 17.6%.

Electricity consumption declined 8.4% during the period, the ministry noted.
