Election campaign remnants to stay

Government

Parties and candidates running for the elections have three weeks remaining to make the remnants of their campaign disappear from the public places. In case posters are not removed the local councils have to take steps.

One week after the elections, pointless posters and flyers advertising candidates are still visible all around the country. According to the law, the campaigners mustremove these in one month period after the elections. Regulations state that the remnants have to be removed by those who installed them.

In case the posters are not removed by the deadline, the local councils have to act upon the issue. It is their responsibility to remove the posters and then charge the candidates and parties with the removal costs. Many municipalities had installed “campaign-boards” before the elections campaigns started to prevent party activists damaging public property by sticking their posters everywhere.

There are many posters still waiting for removal, mainly at places difficult to approach like bridges, lamp posts and walls of high buildings.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.

We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
