Deals

Alcohol consumption in Hungary increased by 25% last year, Hungarian economic daily Napi Gazdaság said yesterday citing data from the Tax and Customs Authority (NAV).

Hungarian news agency MTI said that consumption was chiefly boosted by December sales, as more than 3 mln hectoliters of alcohol were sold in December, while a year before only 582,000 hectoliter were sold.

The daily speculates, that the increase was mainly due to consumers stocking up on alcohol in fear of possible price increases in the future.
