Weather

Some 1,600 producers will receive almost HUF 1.5 billion in storm damage compensation, said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy, according to business daily Világgazdaság.

The minister drew attention to the fact that the Hungarian State Treasury has started to pay partial compensation for the damage caused to agricultural production equipment due to the storm in January.

According to the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture, one-time support will be given to producers whose assets have been damaged and destroyed by the storm, the minister added.

He added that the storm did significant harm, mainly to film tents and greenhouses, but damage in other types of buildings was also significant.

Only producers whose losses have been registered and certified by the National Chamber of Agriculture are eligible for the aid.
