NAV may mandate installation of 70,000 more electronic tills

Competition

An increase in the types of local businesses obliged to use tills directly connected to Hungarian tax office NAV would require the installation of more than 70,000 such devices, according to Jenő Madarász, managing director of Alt Cash, which sells the tills, state news agency MTI reported.

The Hungarian government recently mandated a number of businesses to use the tills in an effort to impede tax evaders. More than 170,000 tills were installed by the compliance deadline at the end of August last year. The government is now considering extending this requirement to cosmeticians, fitness centers and taxis.
