Wizz Air to use “simplified gates” for some Budapest flights
Hungarian low-fare airline Wizz Air on Thursday said it will use “simplified gates” at Liszt Ferenc International Airport for some of the Budapest departures on its summer timetable. Liszt Ferenc operator Budapest Airport has opened twelve of the simplified gates which offer airlines operating costs similar to those of the airport's Terminal 1, Wizz Air said. Terminal 1, one of two terminals at Liszt Ferenc, was closed a year ago, after troubled national carrier Malév was grounded. The low-fare airlines that used the terminal were moved to Terminal 2 and temporary tents were erected to accommodate the increased passenger turnover. “Budapest Airport has discontinued the use of Oktoberfest-style tents and is striving to find a better solution that would ensure airlines use of low-cost facilities for the full year,” said Wizz Air communications manager Daniel de Carvalho.
